Violinist
Daniel's abilities on the violin are a result of extensive classical training with some of the world's great violinists. His combination of romantic virtuosity with contemporary technical sensibilities have led to him being one of the industry's most in-demand performing violinists.
Playing the violin from the age of 3, he studied with Wendy Galloway, Spiros Rantos, and Goetz Richter before commencing his tertiary education at the Sydney Conservatorium. He studied with Alexandru Todicescu with masterclasses from Wanda Wilkomirska before returning to the University of Queensland to study with Spiros Rantos.
In 2007 he won a full scholarship to further his studies at the University of Tasmania with Edwin Paling, where he additionally had lessons with Jun-Yi Ma and performed in masterclasses with Jan Sedivka, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Ning Feng, Jennifer Pike, and Antje Weithaas.
In 2008 he won the D&MV Scholarship to study in London with Gyorgy Pauk (Royal Academy of Music) and David Takeno (Guildhall School of Music and Drama).
In 2010 he returned to his birthplace, Singapore, to fulfil his military obligations, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Returning to Australia in 2012 worked on a freelance basis with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Camerata - Queensland's Chamber Orchestra, the Opera Australia Orchestra, and Orchestra Victoria.
Daniel has performed in a number of musical theatre productions including Miss Saigon, My Fair Lady, Hamilton, Beauty & The Beast, West Side Story, Dear Evan Hansen, Guys & Dolls, Annie, Book of Mormon, Phantom of The Opera, and Heathers. In 2026 he joins the touring company of Fiddler On The Roof.
Daniel currently resides in Sydney where he enjoys a busy and varied freelance career. Together with his wife Eleanor Streatfeild, he co-founded Rue Arts, a cultural agency which operates the Australian Session Orchestra, Sanctuary String Quartet, and 211 Coffee.
He plays a violin made for him in 2018 by Adele Beardsmore.

Much of what I learned about portraiture I owe to Ljobodrag Vasiljevic, who gave me a job as a photographer while I was working as a violinist at Holland America Line.
I have been an accredited photographer for the Singapore Armed Forces, Musica Viva Australia, Camerata - Queensland's Chamber Orchestra, Dots+Loops, 4MBS Classic FM, The Australian Session Orchestra, ZoneOut International Music Festival, The Nano Symphony, Phoenix Collective, Ensemble Q, and many of Australia's artists and creators.
